I have discovered from experience that every strong relationship and marriage is built on trust.
Trust is simply the ability for you and your partner to depend on each other, to be there for each, to believe in each other as well as to make promises to each other and to be committed to keeping the promise made. This usually forms the unwritten part of your relationship.
I see trust as a spoken word of promise which is carried out to signify the trustworthiness of a person. When two partners agree to date and the two become committed to their promise, this builds up trust between the two which eventually builds up trust in the relationship.
Trust is very important when the relationship gets serious enough for marriage. Trust issues such as infidelity and unfaithfulness all indicates that trust issues may have been prevalent throughout the dating stage of the relationship. For the most part, the couple get so engrossed in their feelings of love for each other that they forget and forgive transgression or unfaithfulness during the dating stage. It is highly unlikely that a couple who tolerated trust issues such as infidelity and unfaithfulness during courtship or dating will not have problems with trust when married.
It is therefore important to know before the marriage vows that trust will not be an issue. It is difficult to build on something that is not there. Infidelity during the serious part of dating while leading to marriage indicates that there may be trust issues in the marriage.
In casual dating, trust may not be as important as when involved in a marriage because in casual dating, the date can do distrustful things and expect to be forgiven because the relationship is not serious. However, serious relationship should be built on trust so that the relationship will last and endure the solid foundation of which love and trust constitute.
So, no matter the level of relationship you are involved in, you should make the two of you understand that there will be no unfaithfulness during dating and as such, you should build trust for each other from there. A relationship that will stand the test of time is usually built on trust and almost 89% of trust issues in marriage are taken care of during the dating stage.
